Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered the Friday sermon, he used to lean his back against a palm trunk. When the congregation grew large, he said, "Build me a pulpit," wanting them to hear him better. So they built him one with two steps, and he moved from the trunk to the pulpit.Anas bin Malik told me that he heard the trunk moan like a grieving parent, and it kept moaning until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came down from the pulpit, walked over to it, and embraced it, at which point it grew still.
