I would run with the other boys whenever people said, "Muhammad has come!" I would run but see nothing. Then they would say again, "Muhammad has come!" and I would run, yet see nothing. This continued until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companion Abu Bakr actually arrived, and we were at one of the lava fields of Medina. Then a man from the people of Medina was sent ahead to inform the Ansar of their arrival. About five hundred of the Ansar came out to meet them, and when they reached them, the Ansar said, "Proceed, both of you, safe and obeyed."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companion came forward in their midst. The people of Medina came out to see them, even the young girls climbed atop the houses, looking out and asking, "Which of them is he? Which of them is he?"We had never seen a sight like it that day.Anas bin Malik said, "I witnessed him on the day he entered upon us and on the day he passed away, and I have never seen two days comparable to them."
