The Prophet ﷺ used to pray the afternoon prayer while the sun was still bright and vivid. A person could then set out to the Awali, and arrive there while the sun was still high.
حدثنا عبد الملك بن عمرو عن ابن أبي ذئب عن الزهري
أن النبي ﷺ كان يصلي العصر والشمس بيضاء حية ثم يذهب الذاهب إلى العوالى فيأتيها والشمس مرتفعة
