Abu Burda bin Abu Musa Ashari reported,

I was sitting with Abu Musa when Ali came to us. He stood before Abu Musa and instructed him concerning some matter relating to the people's affairs.Ali said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'Say, O Allah, guide me and make me firm.' And by 'guidance' remember your guidance along the road, and by 'firmness' remember the steady aim of the arrow.He also forbade me from wearing my ring on this finger." Abu Burda gestured toward the index finger or the middle finger.Asim said, "I am the one who was uncertain about which of the two he meant.""And he forbade me from the mithara and the qassiyya."Abu Burda said, I asked the Commander of the Believers, "What is the mithara and what is the qassiyya?"He replied, "As for the mithara, it is something women used to make for their husbands, which they would place on their saddles. As for the qassiyya, they are garments that used to come to us from Sham or Yemen," Asim was uncertain which, "in which there is silk, with patterns like citrons."Abu Burda said, When I saw a sabani garment, I recognized that this was it.

حدثنا عفان حدثنا أبو عوانة عن عاصم بن كليب

حدثني أبو بردة بن أبي موسى قال

كنت جالسا مع أبي موسى فأتانا علي رضي الله عنه فقام على أبي موسى فأمره بأمر من أمر الناس قال قال علي قال لي رسول الله ﷺ قل اللهم اهدني وسددني واذكر بالهدى هدايتك الطريق واذكر بالسداد تسديد السهم ونهاني أن أجعل خاتمي في هذه وأهوى أبو بردة إلى السبابة أو الوسطى قال عاصم أنا الذي اشتبه علي أيتهما عنى ونهاني عن الميثرة والقسية قال أبو بردة فقلت لأمير المؤمنين ما الميثرة وما القسية قال أما الميثرة شيء كانت تصنعه النساء لبعولتهن يجعلونه على رحالهم وأما القسي فثياب كانت تأتينا من الشام أو اليمن شك عاصم فيها حرير فيها أمثال الأترج قال أبو بردة فلما رأيت السبني عرفت أنها هي
