Umm Sulaym had a young son called Abu Umayr who had a small bird called a nughayr. Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in to see him, he would joke and play with him. One day he saw the boy looking sad and asked, "What is the matter with Abu Umayr?"They replied, "Messenger of Allah, his nughayr has died."So he began saying to him, "Abu Umayr, what happened to the little nughayr?"

أن ابنا لأم سليم صغيرا كان يقال له أبو عمير وكان له نغير وكان رسول الله ﷺ إذا دخل عليه ضاحكه فرآه حزينا فقال ما بال أبي عمير قالوا يا رسول الله مات نغيره قال فجعل يقول يا أبا عمير ما فعل النغير
