Shurayh bin Hani reported,

I asked Ayesha about wiping over leather socks. She said, "Ask Ali, he knows more about this than I do, since he used to travel with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."So I asked Ali , and he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'For the resident, one day and one night, and for the traveler, three days and their nights.'"

عن شريح بن هانئ قال

سألت عائشة رضي الله عنها عن المسح على الخفين فقالت سل عليا فهو أعلم بهذا مني هو كان يسافر مع رسول الله ﷺ فسألت عليا رضي الله عنه فقال قال رسول الله ﷺ للمقيم يوم وليلة وللمسافر ثلاثة أيام ولياليهن
