Anas bin Malik reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to mix freely with us, to the point that he would say to a younger brother of mine, "Abu Umayr, what has the little sparrow done?"When the time for prayer came, we would sprinkle water on the edge of a mat for him, then he would lead us in prayer and we would line up in rows behind him.Shuba said, Later on, after Abu Tayyah had grown old, he said, "Then he stood and prayed," without saying, "We lined up behind him," or "He led us in prayer."

حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن أبي التياح أنه

سمع أنس بن مالك قال

كان رسول الله ﷺ يخالطنا حتى إن كان ليقول لأخ لي يا أبا عمير ما فعل النغير قال وكان إذا حضرت الصلاة نضحنا له طرف بساط ثم أمنا وصفنا خلفه قال شعبة ثم إن أبا التياح بعدما كبر قال ثم قام فصلى ولم يقل صفنا خلفه ولا أمنا
