Anas bin Malik reported,

When his mother gave birth, they took the child to the Prophet ﷺ so he could perform the tahnik. He said, the Prophet ﷺ was in a livestock pen branding sheep.Shuba said, to the best of my knowledge, he said he was branding them on their ears.
