The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to inspect the eye and the ear carefully, and not to sacrifice an animal that is one-eyed, nor one with the front of its ear cut off, nor one with the back of its ear cut off, nor one with its ear slit, nor one with a hole pierced in its ear.Zuhayr said, I asked Abu Ishaq, "Did he mention the animal with a broken horn?"He replied, "No."I asked, "What is the muqabalah?"He said, "It is the one whose ear-tip has been cut off."I asked, "And the mudabarah?"He said, "The one whose rear part of the ear has been cut off."I asked, "What is the sharqa?"He said, "The one whose ear has been slit."I asked, "And what is the kharqa?"He said, "The one whose ear has been pierced through as a mark of identification."
