While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the mosque, a man came in riding a camel. He made the camel kneel inside the mosque, tied it up, and then asked, "Which of you is Muhammad?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was reclining among them.We said, "This fair-skinned man who is reclining."The man said, "Son of Abdul-Muttalib."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "I have answered you."The man said, "Muhammad, I am going to ask you questions, and I will be firm in my questioning, so do not hold it against me."He said, "Ask whatever you wish."The man said, "I ask you by your Lord and the Lord of those before you, has Allah sent you to all people?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ answered, "By Allah, yes."He said, "I ask you by Allah, did Allah command you that we pray the five daily prayers in the day and night?"He answered, "By Allah, yes."He said, "I ask you by Allah, did Allah command you that we fast this month every year?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ answered, "By Allah, yes."He said, "I ask you by Allah, did Allah command you to take this charity from our wealthy and distribute it among our poor?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ answered, "By Allah, yes."The man said, "I believe in what you have brought, and I am the messenger of those of my people who are behind me. I am Dimam bin Thalaba, of the brothers of Banu Saad bin Bakr."
حدثنا حجاج حدثنا ليث حدثني سعيد بن أبي سعيد عن شريك بن عبد الله بن أبي نمر أنه
بينما نحن مع رسول الله ﷺ جلوسا في المسجد دخل رجل على جمل فأناخه في المسجد فعقله ثم قال أيكم محمد رسول الله ورسول الله ﷺ متكئ بين ظهرانيهم قال فقلنا هذا الرجل الأبيض المتكئ فقال الرجل يا ابن عبد المطلب فقال له رسول الله ﷺ قد أجبتك فقال الرجل إني يا محمد سائلك فمشدد عليك في المسألة فلا تجد علي في نفسك فقال سل ما بدا لك فقال الرجل نشدتك بربك ورب من كان قبلك آلله أرسلك إلى الناس كلهم فقال رسول الله ﷺ اللهم نعم قال فأنشدك الله آلله أمرك أن نصلي الصلوات الخمس في اليوم والليلة قال اللهم نعم قال فأنشدك الله آلله أمرك أن نصوم هذا الشهر من السنة قال رسول الله ﷺ اللهم نعم قال أنشدك الله آلله أمرك أن تأخذ هذه الصدقة من أغنيائنا فتقسمها على فقرائنا قال رسول الله ﷺ اللهم نعم قال الرجل آمنت بما جئت به وأنا رسول من ورائي من قومي قال وأنا ضمام بن ثعلبة أخو بني سعد بن بكر
