Its isnad is very daif. Amr bin Uthman bin Sayyar Kullabi Raqqi is daif. Nasai said in Duafa 23, "Discarded." In Jarh wa Tadil 3/1/249, he quoted Abu Hatim, "They criticize him. He was a blind old sheikh in Raqqa who narrated to people from memory hadiths that were unrecognized."Hafs Abu Umar is Hafs bin Sulayman Bazzaz Qari, the one behind the well-known recitation of Hafs, by which people recite in Egypt. He is discarded in hadith despite his mastery in recitation. This is what the Hafiz said in Taqrib. Bukhari said in Duafa 9, "They discarded him." Ahmad bin Hanbal, may Allah have mercy on him, said, Yahya said, "Shuba informed me, saying, Hafs bin Sulayman took a book from me and did not return it," and he said, "He used to take people's books and copy them." This means he used to copy books he had not heard directly and then narrate from them as though he had heard them himself. That is why Ibn Main said, "Hafs and Abu Bakr," meaning Ibn Ayyash, "were among the people most knowledgeable of the recitation of Asim, and Hafs was a better reciter than Abu Bakr, but Hafs was a liar, while Abu Bakr was truthful." Ahmad, Ibn Madini, Ibn Mahdi, Muslim, and others also declared him daif.Kathir bin Zazan is majhul. Ibn Main said, "I do not know him." Abu Zura and Abu Hatim said, "An unknown sheikh." See Jarh wa Tadil 3/2/151.The defect in the hadith is the weakness of Hafs the reciter, for Amr bin Uthman Raqqi was not alone in narrating it. Abdullah bin Ahmad narrated it, as will come at 1277, from Muhammad bin Bakkar, from Hafs. Tirmidhi narrated it at 514, from Ali bin Hajar, from Hafs. Ibn Majah narrated it at 148, by way of Muhammad bin Harb, from Abu Umar, who is Hafs.Tirmidhi said, "This is a gharib hadith, we do not know it except by this route, and it has no sahih isnad. Hafs bin Sulayman Abu Umar is a Kufan bazzaz who is graded daif in hadith."
