The prayer of Isha was called, or as Affan said, it was delayed one night. A man stood up and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have a need to discuss with you." So the Prophet ﷺ stood with him conversing privately until the people, or as he said, some of the people, dozed off. Then he prayed, and no mention was made of him performing ablution.
حدثنا أبو كامل وعفان قالا حدثنا حماد عن ثابت البناني قال عفان في حديثه أخبرنا ثابت
أقيمت صلاة العشاء قال عفان أو أخرت ذات ليلة فقام رجل فقال يا رسول الله إن لي إليك حاجة فقام معه يناجيه حتى نعس القوم أو قال بعض القوم ثم صلى ولم يذكر وضوءا
