The Abyssinians were dancing and leaping in front of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, chanting, "Muhammad is a righteous servant."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What are they saying?"They replied, "They are saying, 'Muhammad is a righteous servant.'"
حدثنا عبد الصمد قال حدثنا حماد عن ثابت
كانت الحبشة يزفنون بين يدي رسول الله ﷺ ويرقصون ويقولون محمد عبد صالح فقال رسول الله ﷺ ما يقولون قالوا يقولون محمد عبد صالح
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari and Muslim narrated it with different wording. Bukhari narrated it in 1/549, no. 455, in the Book of Prayer, chapter on those who bore spears in the masjid, and Muslim narrated it in 2/609, no. 892, in the Book of the Two Eids, chapter on the permissibility of play.
