Usayd bin Hudayr and another man from the Ansar were speaking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night about a matter they needed to discuss, until a portion of the night had passed. It was an intensely dark night. Then the two of them left the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to head home, each carrying a small staff in his hand. The staff of one of them lit up for them, and they walked by its light. When the road forked and separated them, the other man's staff lit up for him, and each of them walked by the light of his own staff until he reached his family.
حدثنا عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن ثابت
أن أسيد بن حضير ورجلا آخر من الأنصار تحدثا عند رسول الله ﷺ ليلة في حاجة لهما حتى ذهب من الليل ساعة وليلة شديدة الظلمة ثم خرجا من عند رسول الله ﷺ ينقلبان وبيد كل واحد منهما عصية فأضاءت عصا أحدهما لهما حتى مشيا في ضوئها حتى إذا افترق بهما الطريق أضاءت للآخر عصاه فمشى كل واحد منهما في ضوء عصاه حتى بلغ إلى أهله

Its isnad is sahih, and it is found in Bukhari with a similar wording, 7/125, no. 3805, Fath, in the merits of the Ansar, the merit of Usayd. In his version, the other man is Abbad bin Bishr.
