The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to delight in good dreams, so he would often ask, "Has any of you seen a dream?" When a man reported a dream, the Prophet would inquire about him, and if he was a man of good standing, the Prophet was all the more pleased with his dream.A woman came and said, "Messenger of Allah, I dreamt that I entered Paradise and heard a thud that caused Paradise to shake. I looked, and behold, so-and-so the son of so-and-so was brought, and so-and-so the son of so-and-so, until I counted twelve men."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had dispatched a military expedition before that. She continued, "They were brought wearing dusty garments, with blood gushing from their veins. It was said, 'Take them to the river of Baydakh,' or he said, 'to the river of Baydaj.' They were dipped into it and emerged with faces like the moon on the night of the full moon. Then thrones of gold were brought, and they sat upon them. A platter, or something like that word, was brought containing fresh dates, and they ate from it. They did not turn it from one side to another except that they ate from whatever fruit they wished, and I ate with them."Then the messenger bringing news from that expedition arrived and said, "Messenger of Allah, our affair went thus and so, and so-and-so was killed, and so-and-so," until he counted the same twelve whom the woman had counted.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bring the woman to me." She came, and he said, "Recount your dream to this man." She recounted it, and he said, "It is just as she told the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
حدثنا بهز حدثنا سليمان بن المغيرة عن ثابت
كان رسول الله ﷺ تعجبه الرؤيا الحسنة فربما قال هل رأى أحد منكم رؤيا فإذا رأى الرجل رؤيا سأل عنه فإن كان ليس به بأس كان أعجب لرؤياه إليه قال فجاءت امرأة فقالت يا رسول الله رأيت كأني دخلت الجنة فسمعت بها وجبة ارتجت لها الجنة فنظرت فإذا قد جيء بفلان بن فلان وفلان بن فلان حتى عدت اثني عشر رجلا وقد بعث رسول الله ﷺ سرية قبل ذلك قالت فجيء بهم عليهم ثياب طلس تشخب أوداجهم قال فقيل اذهبوا بهم إلى نهر البيدخ أو قال إلى نهر البيدج قال فغمسوا فيه فخرجوا منه وجوههم كالقمر ليلة البدر قال ثم أتوا بكراسي من ذهب فقعدوا عليها وأتي بصحفة أو كلمة نحوها فيها بسرة فأكلوا منها فما يقلبونها لشق إلا أكلوا من فاكهة ما أرادوا وأكلت معهم قال فجاء البشير من تلك السرية فقال يا رسول الله كان من أمرنا كذا وكذا وأصيب فلان وفلان حتى عد الاثني عشر الذين عدتهم المرأة قال رسول الله ﷺ علي بالمرأة فجاءت قال قصي على هذا رؤياك فقصت قال هو كما قالت لرسول الله ﷺ
