The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade visiting graves, using certain types of vessels, and storing the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days. Then he said, "I had forbidden you from visiting graves, but now visit them, for they remind you of the Hereafter. I had forbidden you from using those vessels, but now drink from them and avoid anything that intoxicates. I had forbidden you from keeping the meat of sacrificial animals beyond three days, but now keep it for as long as you wish."
Its chain is daif. Rabia bin Nabigha is unknown, even though Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators, because no one narrated from him except Ali bin Zayd bin Jadan. So he is of unknown status, and he comes close to being of unknown identity altogether. His father, Nabigha, is also unknown. In Lisan Mizan 6:143, Ibn Abu Hatim said, and it is also said, Nabigha bin Makhariq bin Sulaym. I say, there is disagreement about whether his father was a companion of the Prophet, and as for Rabia himself, I do not know his status. In Mizan it says, regarding Rabia bin Nabigha, from his father, from Ali, concerning the udhiya, this is not sahih, as Bukhari said. Hafiz said in Tajil 128-129, in the biography of Rabia, "Bukhari said it is not sahih," and Aqeeli mentioned him in Duafa on that basis. What Bukhari meant is that what Rabia narrated from his father, from Ali, prohibiting the visiting of graves, prohibiting keeping the meat of sacrificial animals after three days, and concerning certain vessels, is not to be acted upon because it has been abrogated. But this statement is not precise, for what Rabia narrated, as you can see, concerns both the prohibition and its abrogation. It seems that Hafiz did not have the Musnad before him when he wrote this, and indeed he had not read the actual text of the hadith in Aqeeli's work, for he said in Lisan Mizan 2:449, "Aqeeli mentioned him in Duafa and cited his hadith through the narration of Hammad bin Salama, from Ali bin Zayd, from him, from his father, from Ali, prohibiting the keeping of sacrificial meat beyond three days, and then permitting it afterward."This shows that he had read the text in Aqeeli's work when he wrote what appears in Lisan, but had not read it when he wrote what appears in Tajil. It also shows that Bukhari was denying the soundness of this chain itself, not making the interpretation that Hafiz gave in Tajil, namely that he meant the ruling had been abrogated. The hadith appears in Majma al-Zawaid 3:58 and 4:25. In the first place he said, "Abu Yaala and Ahmad narrated it, and it contains Rabia bin Nabigha. Bukhari said, his hadith from Ali concerning the sacrificial animals is not sahih." And in the second place he said, "Ahmad and Abu Yaala narrated it, and it contains Nabigha, whom Ibn Abu Hatim mentioned, neither validating nor criticizing him."
