I asked Anas about the two rakahs before the Maghrib prayer. He said, "We used to hasten to perform them during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."Shuba said, "Then later he said, 'I asked him more than once,' and he said, 'We used to hasten to perform them,' but he did not say, 'during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'"

سألت أنسا عن الركعتين قبل المغرب قال كنا نبتدرهما على عهد رسول الله ﷺ قال شعبة ثم قال بعد وسألته غير مرة فقال كنا نبتدرهما ولم يقل على عهد رسول الله ﷺ

Its isnad is sahih. Yaala bin Ata is Amiri, and Abu Fazarah is Rashid bin Kaysan Absi, and both are reliable narrators whose hadiths appear in Muslim. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 1/577, no. 503 in Fath al-Bari, in the Book of Prayer, the chapter on praying by the pillar, and by Muslim 1/573, no. 837, in the Book of Travelers, the chapter on the recommendation of the two prostrations before Maghrib, and by Nasai 2/29, and by Darimi 1/398, no. 1441.
