A woman from the Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Affan said in his version that she had a son with her. He said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is."Ibn Jafar said in his version that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took her aside and said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, you are the most beloved of people to me," repeating it three times.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر وعفان قالا حدثنا شعبة عن هشام قال عفان أخبرني هشام بن زيد بن أنس قال
جاءت امرأة من الأنصار إلى رسول الله ﷺ قال عفان معها ابن لها فقال والذي نفسي بيده وقال ابن جعفر قال فخلا بها رسول الله ﷺ وقال والذي نفسي بيده إنكم لأحب الناس إلي ثلاث مرات
Its isnad is sahih. Hisham, the grandson of Anas, is trustworthy. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 7/114, no. 3786, Fath, in the chapters on the virtues of the Ansar, the Prophet's ﷺ statement to the Ansar, "You are the most beloved of people," and by Muslim 4/1949, no. 2509, in the virtues of the companions, the virtues of the Ansar.
