The Prophet ﷺ said, "The son of Adam grows old, yet two things in him remain young, greed and hope."
حدثنا يحيى عن شعبة حدثنا قتادة
أن النبي ﷺ قال يهرم ابن آدم وتبقى منه اثنتان الحرص والأمل
Its isnad is sahih. The hadith is found in Muslim 2/724, no. 1047, in the chapter on zakat, on the undesirability of greed, and in Tirmidhi 4/636, no. 2455, in the chapter on asceticism, on what has been said about the heart of the old man, where he said, hasan sahih, and in Ibn Majah 2/1415, no. 4234, in the chapter on asceticism, on hope and the appointed term.
