The Prophet ﷺ flogged the drinker of wine with palm branches and sandals, and Abu Bakr flogged him as well. Yahya said in his narration, forty lashes. When Umar's time came, people had moved closer to the countryside and villages, so he said to his companions, "What do you think?"Abdul-Rahman replied, "Make it like the lightest of the prescribed punishments."So Umar flogged with eighty lashes.

جلد النبي ﷺ في الخمر بالجريد والنعال وجلد أبو بكر قال يحيى في حديثه أربعين فلما كان عمر دنا الناس من الريف والقرى قال لأصحابه ما ترون قال عبد الرحمن اجعلها كأخف الحدود فجلد عمر ثمانين
Its chain of transmission is sahih. The hadith is found in Bukhari 12/63, no. 6773, in the chapters on legal punishments, section on the beating of one who drinks wine, and in Muslim 3/1331, no. 1706, with similar wording, and in Abu Dawud 4/163, no. 4479, likewise, and in Ibn Majah 2/585, no. 2271.
