The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of Hunayn, "Whoever kills a disbeliever may keep his spoils." Abu Talha killed twenty men that day.
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن حماد يعني ابن سلمة حدثنا إسحاق بن عبد الله
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال يوم حنين من قتل كافرا فله سلبه قال فقتل أبو طلحة عشرين
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abu Talha narrates from his paternal uncle Anas. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 4/112 in jihad, chapter on one who does not take a fifth of the spoils, and Muslim 3/1371 no. 1751 in jihad, chapter on the killer's entitlement to the slain man's belongings, and Abu Dawud 3/71 no. 2718 similarly, and Tirmidhi in Siyar 4/131 no. 1562, all of them from Abu Qatada, and likewise Malik 2/454.
