The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the Day of Sacrifice, "Whoever slaughtered before the prayer must repeat his sacrifice."A man stood up and said, "Messenger of Allah, this is a day on which meat is desired," and he mentioned the modest circumstances of his neighbors. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ seemed to accept what he said. The man added, "I have a young goat that is dearer to me than two sheep of meat."So he granted him a concession. I do not know whether his concession extended to anyone else or not. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, turned to two rams and slaughtered them, and the people went to a small flock of sheep and divided them up, or he said they distributed them. This is how Ayub said it.
Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad is Ibn Sirin. The hadith was reported by Bukhari 7/129 in the book of udhiya, chapter on what meat one may desire, and Muslim 3/1554 no. 1962, chapter on the time of udhiya, and Nasai 7/223 no. 4396, chapter on slaughtering the udhiya before the imam.
