I have never seen anyone more compassionate toward children than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Ibrahim had a wet nurse in the highlands of Madinah, and he would go there with us. He would enter the house, which was filled with smoke, since the wet nurse's husband was a blacksmith. He would pick Ibrahim up and kiss him, then return.Amr said, When Ibrahim passed away, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Ibrahim is my son, and he died while still nursing. He has two wet nurses who will complete his nursing in Paradise."
حدثنا سفيان حدثنا إسماعيل أخبرنا أيوب عن عمرو بن سعيد
ما رأيت أحدا كان أرحم بالعيال من رسول الله ﷺ كان إبراهيم مسترضعا في عوالي المدينة وكان ينطلق ونحن معه فيدخل البيت وإنه ليدخن وكان ظئره قينا فيأخذه فيقبله ثم يرجع قال عمرو فلما توفي إبراهيم قال رسول الله ﷺ إن إبراهيم ابني وإنه مات في الثدي فإن له ظئرين يكملان رضاعه في الجنة
Its isnad is sahih. Ismail is Ibn Ibrahim bin Ulayyah, Ayub is Ibn Tamimah Sakhtiyani, and Amr bin Saeed Basri Qurashi, all of them are trustworthy. Muslim narrated the hadith, 4/1808, no. 2316, in the Book of Virtues, on his mercy ﷺ toward children.
