I asked Anas bin Malik about drinking from various vessels, and he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the pitch-coated vessel," and he said, "Every intoxicant is forbidden."I asked, "What is the pitch-coated vessel?"He replied, "The one smeared with tar."I asked, "What about lead vessels and glass bottles?"He answered, "There is no harm in them."I said, "But some people dislike them."He responded, "Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt, for every intoxicant is forbidden."I said to him, "You have spoken truly. Intoxication is forbidden, but what about a sip or two with our meal?"He said, "Whatever intoxicates in large amounts, even a small amount of it is forbidden." And he said, "Khamr is made from grapes, dates, honey, wheat, barley, and corn. Whatever is fermented from these is khamr."
