The Prophet ﷺ arrived in Madinah when I was ten years old, and he passed away when I was twenty. My mothers used to urge me to serve him.He came in to visit us, and we milked a domestic sheep for him and mixed it with water from the well in the house. An Arabi was on his right, Abu Bakr was on his left, and Umar was off to one side.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drank, then Umar said, "Give it to Abu Bakr."But he handed it to the Arabi and said, "Start with the one on the right, then the next on the right."Sufyan once said, Zuhri reported to us, Anas informed us.
حدثنا سفيان عن الزهري
قدم النبي ﷺ المدينة وأنا ابن عشر ومات وأنا ابن عشرين وكن أمهاتي تحثني على خدمته فدخل علينا فحلبنا له من شاة داجن وشيب له من بئر في الدار وأعرابي عن يمينه وأبو بكر عن يساره وعمر ناحية فشرب رسول الله ﷺ فقال عمر أعط أبا بكر فناول الأعرابي وقال الأيمن فالأيمن و قال سفيان مرة الزهري أخبرنا أنس
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari related the hadith 5/30, no. 2352, in Ashribah, "The view that giving water as charity is permissible", and Muslim 3/1603, no. 2029, in Ashribah, "The recommendation of passing water around", and Abu Dawud 3/338, no. 3726, in Ashribah, "The one who pours the drink drinks", and Tirmidhi 4/306, no. 1893, who said, hasan sahih, and Ibn Majah 2/1133, no. 3425.(1) That is, mixed, from "shaba, yashubu," meaning "he mixed."
