I was playing with the other boys when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and greeted us. Yazid said in his version, "greeted us." He took me by the hand and sent me on an errand, then sat in the shade of a wall until I returned to him after delivering the message he had sent me with.When I came back to Umm Sulaym, she asked, "What kept you?"I said, "The Prophet ﷺ sent me on an errand for him."She asked, "What was it?"I said, "It is a secret."She said, "Then keep the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ secret."So I never told it to anyone afterward.
حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن حميد ويزيد قالا أنا حميد
كنت ألعب مع الغلمان فأتانا رسول الله ﷺ فسلم قال يزيد في حديثه علينا وأخذ بيدي فبعثني في حاجة وقعد في ظل حائط أو جدار حتى رجعت إليه فبلغت الرسالة التي بعثني فيها فلما أتيت أم سليم قالت ما حبسك قلت بعثني النبي ﷺ في حاجة له قالت وما هي قلت سر قالت احفظ على رسول الله ﷺ سره قال فما حدثت به أحدا بعد
