When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out for Badr, he went forth and consulted the people. Abu Bakr gave him his counsel. Then he consulted them again, and Umar

, 'Go, you and your Lord, and fight. We will sit right here' [Maidah 5:24]. Rather, by Allah, if you were to drive the camels until you reached Bark al-Ghimad, we would be with you."
حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن حميد
لما سار رسول الله ﷺ إلى بدر خرج فاستشار الناس فأشار عليه أبو بكر رضي الله عنه ثم استشارهم فأشار عليه عمر رضي الله عنه فسكت فقال رجل من الأنصار إنما يريدكم فقالوا يا رسول الله والله لا نكون كما قالت بنو إسرائيل لموسى عليه السلام {اذهب أنت وربك فقاتلا إنا هاهنا قاعدون} ولكن والله لو ضربت أكباد الإبل حتى تبلغ برك الغماد لكنا معك
