We used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ in intense heat, and if one of us could not press his face firmly against the ground, he would spread out his garment and prostrate on it.
حدثنا بشر بن المفضل حدثنا غالب القطان عن بكر بن عبد الله
كنا نصلي مع النبي ﷺ في شدة الحر فإذا لم يستطع أحدنا أن يمكن وجهه من الأرض بسط ثوبه فيسجد عليه
Its isnad is sahih. Bishr bin Mufaddal bin Lahiq Raqashi is trustworthy and firmly reliable, Ghalib bin Khattaf Qattan is truthful, his hadith is recorded by the collective group, and Bakr bin Abdullah is Muzani.The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 1/492, no. 385, Fath al-Bari, in the Book of Prayer, chapter on prostrating on a garment, and by Abu Dawud 1/177, no. 660, similarly, and by Tirmidhi 2/479, no. 584, in the Book of Travel, chapter on what has been mentioned regarding the permission to prostrate on a garment.Prostrating on a garment is a matter of disagreement among the jurists.
