I said, "By Allah, no ruler comes to us except that he is worse than the previous one, and no year comes upon us except that it is worse than the one before."He replied, "Were it not for something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would say the same as you. But I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Among your rulers will be a ruler who will scoop out wealth in handfuls without counting it. A man will come to him and ask him, and he will say, Take. The man will spread out his garment, and the ruler will pour wealth into it.'"Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spread out a thick cloak he was wearing, demonstrating what the man would do, and gathered its corners together, saying, "Then he will take it and go on his way."
حدثنا خلف بن الوليد حدثنا عباد بن عباد حدثنا مجالد عن أبي الوداك
قلت والله ما يأتي علينا أمير إلا وهو شر من الماضي ولا عام إلا وهو شر من الماضي قال لولا شيء سمعته من رسول الله ﷺ لقلت مثل ما يقول ولكن سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول إن من أمرائكم أميرا يحثي المال حثيا ولا يعده عدا يأتيه الرجل فيسأله فيقول خذ فيبسط الرجل ثوبه فيحثي فيه وبسط رسول الله ﷺ ملحفة غليظة كانت عليه يحكي صنيع الرجل ثم جمع إليه أكنافها قال فيأخذه ثم ينطلق
