Abdullah bin Abu Talha and I went in to visit Abu Saeed Khudri while he was ill. Abu Saeed said to us, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us that the angels do not enter a house in which there are statues or images." Ishaq was uncertain which of the two words Abu Saeed had said.
Its isnad is sahih. Ishaq bin Abdullah, Abu Yahya, is trustworthy, and his father was the brother of Anas on his mother's side. He was born during the time of the Prophet ﷺ and is the one who entered along with Rafi upon Abu Saeed. Rafi bin Ishaq is the freedman of Shifa. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 4/138 in the beginning of creation, Muslim 3/1672 no. 2421, and Tirmidhi 5/114 no. 2804 in manners, where he said it is hasan sahih, and Malik 2/996 in seeking permission, in what has been said about images.
