The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to set out in the year of the Conquest after two nights of Ramadan had passed. We departed while fasting and continued until we reached al-Kadid, where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to break our fast. So the people were divided into two groups, some fasting and some not.

أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ بالرحيل عام الفتح في ليلتين خلتا من رمضان فخرجنا صواما حتى بلغنا الكديد فأمرنا رسول الله ﷺ بالفطر فأصبح الناس شرحين منهم الصائم والمفطر
