The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "While I was sleeping, I saw people being presented to me, wearing shirts. Some reached to the breast, and some fell short of that. Then Umar bin Khattab passed by me wearing a shirt that he was dragging along."They asked, "How did you interpret this, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Religion."Yaqub said, "I cannot count how many times I heard him say, 'Salih narrated to us from Ibn Shihab.'"
حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي عن صالح قال ابن شهاب حدثني أبو أمامة بن سهل أنه
قال رسول الله ﷺ بينا أنا نائم رأيت الناس يعرضون وعليهم قمص منها ما يبلغ الثدي ومنها ما يبلغ دون ذلك ومر علي عمر بن الخطاب وعليه قميص يجره قالوا فما أولت يا رسول الله قال الدين قال يعقوب ما أحصي ما سمعته يقول حدثنا صالح عن ابن شهاب
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Umama bin Sahl, his name is Asad bin Sahl bin Hunayf al-Ansari, he had a sighting of the Prophet, and this has already been mentioned. The hadith is found in Bukhari 1/12, in the Book of Faith, chapter on the varying ranks of the people of faith, and Muslim 4/1859 no. 2391, in the Book of the Merits of the Companions, chapter on the merits of Umar, and Tirmidhi 4/529 no. 2285, in the Book of Dreams, chapter on what has been reported about the Prophet's ﷺ dream, where he said, sahih, and Nasai 8/112 no. 5010, similarly to Bukhari, and Darimi, in the Book of Dreams, 2/171 no. 2151.
