The Prophet ﷺ mentioned in a hadith a people who would rise up at a time when the community was divided into opposing factions, and they would be killed by whichever of the two groups was closer to the truth.
حدثنا أبو أحمد حدثنا سفيان عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن الضحاك المشرقي
عن النبي ﷺ في حديث ذكره قوم يخرجون على فرقة من الناس مختلفة يقتلهم أقرب الطائفتين إلى الحق
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Ahmad is Zubayri, and Dahhak Mishraqi is Ibn Sharahil, and he is referring to hadith 11139.
