Abu Hurairah and Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The last two men to come out of the Fire will be addressed by Allah. He will say to one of them, 'Son of Adam, what have you prepared for this day? Have you ever done any good? Did you ever place hope in Me?'The man will reply, 'No, my Lord.'So he will be commanded back to the Fire, and he will be the most regretful of all the people of the Fire.Then Allah will say to the other, 'Son of Adam, what have you prepared for this day? Have you ever done any good, or placed hope in Me?'He will say, 'No, my Lord, except that I always had hope in You.'A tree will then be raised up before him, and he will say, 'My Lord, place me beneath this tree so that I may shelter in its shade, eat from its fruit, and drink from its water.' He will pledge to Allah that he will ask for nothing else, and Allah will place him beneath it.Then another tree, more beautiful than the first and more lush with water, will be raised up before him, and he will say, 'My Lord, place me beneath this one. I will ask for nothing besides it. Let me shelter in its shade, eat from its fruit, and drink from its water.'Allah will say, 'Son of Adam, did you not pledge to Me that you would ask for nothing else?'He will reply, 'My Lord, only this one. I will ask You for nothing besides it.' He will pledge to Allah that he will ask for nothing more, and Allah will place him beneath it.Then a tree will be raised up before him at the gate of Paradise, more beautiful than the first two and more lush with water. He will say, 'My Lord, this one. Place me beneath it.'So Allah will bring him close to it, and he will pledge that he will ask for nothing else. Then he will hear the voices of the people of Paradise and will be unable to contain himself, so he will say, 'My Lord, Paradise. My Lord, admit me into Paradise.'Allah will say, 'Ask, and make your wishes.'So he will ask and wish for as long as three days of the days of this world, and Allah will prompt him with things he had no knowledge of, and he will continue to ask and wish. When he has finished, Allah will say, 'You shall have what you asked for, and the like of it with it.'"Abu Saeed said, "And the like of it with it."Abu Hurairah said, "And ten times the like of it with it."One of them said to the other, "Narrate what you heard, and I will narrate what I heard."

حدثنا عفان حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن سعيد بن المسيب

عن أبي سعيد الخدري وأبي هريرة

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إن آخر رجلين يخرجان من النار يقول الله لأحدهما يا ابن آدم ما أعددت لهذا اليوم هل عملت خيرا قط هل رجوتني فيقول لا أي رب فيؤمر به إلى النار فهو أشد أهل النار حسرة ويقول للآخر يا ابن آدم ماذا أعددت لهذا اليوم هل عملت خيرا قط أو رجوتني فيقول لا يا رب إلا أني كنت أرجوك قال فيرفع له شجرة فيقول أي رب أقرني تحت هذه الشجرة فأستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرها وأشرب من مائها ويعاهده أن لا يسأله غيرها فيقره تحتها ثم ترفع له شجرة هي أحسن من الأولى وأغدق ماء فيقول أي رب أقرني تحتها لا أسألك غيرها فأستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرها وأشرب من مائها فيقول يا ابن آدم ألم تعاهدني أن لا تسألني غيرها فيقول أي رب هذه لا أسألك غيرها ويعاهده أن لا يسأله غيرها فيقره تحتها ثم ترفع له شجرة عند باب الجنة هي أحسن من الأولتين وأغدق ماء فيقول أي رب هذه أقرني تحتها فيدنيه منها ويعاهده أن لا يسأله غيرها فيسمع أصوات أهل الجنة فلم يتمالك فيقول أي رب الجنة أي رب أدخلني الجنة فيقول الله عز وجل سل وتمنه فيسأله ويتمنى بمقدار ثلاثة أيام من أيام الدنيا ويلقنه الله ما لا علم له به فيسأل ويتمنى فإذا فرغ قال لك ما سألت قال أبو سعيد ومثله معه وقال أبو هريرة وعشرة أمثاله معه قال أحدهما لصاحبه حدث بما سمعت وأحدث بما سمعت
