We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a Friday when an Arabi entered while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on the pulpit. The Arabi sat down at the back of the people, and the Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Have you prayed two cycles?"He replied, "No."So he instructed him, and the man went to the open space near the pulpit and prayed two cycles.
Its isnad is hasan due to Ibn Lahia, and the hadith was already given at 11140 with a sahih chain. Scholars have differed about this hadith. Some have opposed it with the hadith, "When the preacher ascends, there is no prayer and no talking," but that hadith is perhaps weaker than this one. Given that, I consider the correct position to be that greeting the masjid with two light prostrations is permissible.
