Abu Hurairah and Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The last two men to be brought out of the Fire are these. Allah will say to one of them, 'Son of Adam, what did you prepare for this day? Did you do any good? Did you place any hope in Me?' He will reply, 'No, my Lord.' So he will be ordered back to the Fire, and he will be the most regretful of all the people of the Fire.Then Allah will say to the other, 'Son of Adam, what did you prepare for this day? Did you do any good? Did you place any hope in Me?' He will reply, 'Yes, my Lord. When You brought me out, I hoped You would never return me to it.' Then a tree will be raised up before him, and he will say, 'My Lord, place me beneath this tree, that I may take shade in its shadow, eat of its fruit, and drink of its water.'Allah will say, 'Son of Adam,' and will take a covenant from him that he will ask for nothing else. Then He will bring him close to it.Then another tree will be raised up before him, more beautiful than the first and more abundant in water. He will say, 'My Lord, this one and no other. Place me beneath it, that I may take shade in its shadow, eat of its fruit, and drink of its water.'Allah will say, 'Son of Adam, did you not give Me your word that you would ask Me for nothing else?'He will reply, 'My Lord, this one only, I will ask for no other.' So Allah will place him beneath it and take from him a covenant that he will ask for nothing else.Then a tree will be raised up before him at the gate of Paradise, more beautiful than the previous two and more abundant in water. He will say, 'My Lord, I will ask for no other. Place me beneath this one, that I may take shade in its shadow, eat of its fruit, and drink of its water.'Allah will say, 'Son of Adam, did you not give Me your word that you would ask Me for nothing else?'He will reply, 'My Lord, this one only, I will ask for no other.' So Allah will place him beneath it and take from him a covenant that he will ask for nothing else.Then he will hear the voices of the people of Paradise and will not be able to restrain himself, and he will say, 'My Lord, admit me into Paradise.'Allah will say, 'Ask and wish for whatever you desire.' And Allah will prompt him with things he had no knowledge of, so he will ask and wish for the equivalent of three of the days of this world. Then Allah will say, 'Son of Adam, you shall have what you have asked for.'"Abu Saeed Khudri said, "And the like of it with it."Abu Hurairah said, "And ten times the like of it with it."Then one of them said to the other, "Relate what you heard, and I will relate what I heard."

حدثنا حسن بن موسى حدثنا حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن سعيد بن المسيب

عن أبي سعيد الخدري وأبي هريرة قالا

قال رسول الله ﷺ آخر من يخرج من النار رجلان يقول الله لأحدهما يا ابن آدم ما أعددت لهذا اليوم هل عملت خيرا أو رجوتني فيقول لا يا رب فيؤمر به إلى النار وهو أشد أهل النار حسرة ويقول للآخر يا ابن آدم ما أعددت لهذا اليوم هل عملت خيرا أو رجوتني فيقول نعم يا رب قد كنت أرجو إذ أخرجتني أن لا تعيدني فيها أبدا فترفع له شجرة فيقول أي رب أقرني تحت هذه الشجرة فأستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرها وأشرب من مائها فيقول يا ابن آدم فيعاهده أن لا يسأله غيرها فيدنيه منها ثم ترفع له شجرة هي أحسن من الأولى وأغدق ماء فيقول أي رب هذه لا أسألك غيرها أقرني تحتها فأستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرها وأشرب من مائها فيقول يا ابن آدم ألم تعاهدني أن لا تسألني غيرها فيقول أي رب هذه لا أسألك غيرها فيقره تحتها ويعاهده أن لا يسأله غيرها ثم ترفع له شجرة عند باب الجنة هي أحسن من الأوليين وأغدق ماء فيقول أي رب لا أسألك غيرها فأقرني تحتها فأستظل بظلها وآكل من ثمرها وأشرب من مائها فيقول ابن آدم ألم تعاهدني أن لا تسألني غيرها فيقول أي رب هذه لا أسألك غيرها فيقره تحتها ويعاهده أن لا يسأله غيرها فيسمع أصوات أهل الجنة فلا يتمالك فيقول أي رب أدخلني الجنة فيقول تبارك وتعالى سل وتمن ويلقنه الله ما لا علم له به فيسأل ويتمنى مقدار ثلاثة أيام من أيام الدنيا فيقول ابن آدم لك ما سألت قال أبو سعيد الخدري ومثله معه قال أبو هريرة وعشرة أمثاله معه ثم قال أحدهما لصاحبه حدث بما سمعت وأحدث بما سمعت
