One day, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was distributing some wealth, Dhul-Khuwaysirah, a man from the tribe of Banu Tamim, came to him and said, "Muhammad, be just! By Allah, you have not been just today."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "By Allah, you will not find anyone after me more just to you than I am," repeating it three times.Umar said, "Messenger of Allah, will you permit me to strike off his neck?"He answered, "No. He has companions whose prayer any of you would consider insignificant compared to theirs, and whose fasting would seem trivial next to theirs. They will pass through the religion as an arrow passes clean through its target. The archer looks at the arrowhead and sees nothing, then at the shaft and sees nothing. Their distinguishing sign is a man with one of his arms like a piece of meat, or like the breast of a woman, quivering. They will appear when there is division among the people, and the group closer to the truth will fight and kill them."Abu Saeed said, "I bear witness that I heard this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I was present with Ali when he killed them. The body was searched for among the slain, and a man was found matching exactly the description the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had given."
حدثنا محمد بن مصعب حدثنا الأوزاعي عن الزهري عن أبي سلمة والضحاك المشرقي
بينا رسول الله ﷺ ذات يوم يقسم مالا إذ أتاه ذو الخويصرة رجل من بني تميم فقال يا محمد اعدل فوالله ما عدلت منذ اليوم فقال النبي ﷺ والله لا تجدون بعدي أعدل عليكم مني ثلاث مرات فقال عمر يا رسول الله أتأذن لي فأضرب عنقه فقال لا إن له أصحابا يحقر أحدكم صلاته مع صلاتهم وصيامه مع صيامهم يمرقون من الدين كما يمرق السهم من الرمية ينظر صاحبه إلى فوقه فلا يرى شيئا آيتهم رجل إحدى يديه كالبضعة أو كثدي المرأة يخرجون على فرقتين من الناس يقتلهم أولى الطائفتين بالله قال أبو سعيد فأشهد أني سمعت هذا من رسول الله ﷺ وأني شهدت عليا حين قتلهم فالتمس في القتلى فوجد على النعت الذي نعت رسول الله ﷺ
