I was sitting in a circle with some of the Ansar. We were so scantily clothed that some of us had to shield ourselves behind others out of modesty, while one of us recited to us, and we listened to the Book of Allah. Suddenly the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped beside us and sat down among us, joining their company. The reciter fell silent.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What were you saying?"We replied, "Messenger of Allah, one of us was reciting to us from the Book of Allah."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then gestured with his hand, making a circular motion to indicate that they should form a ring. So the circle was made round. I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recognize any of them but me.He said, "Rejoice, you company of the destitute. You will enter Paradise half a day before the wealthy, and that is five hundred years."

كنت في حلقة من الأنصار إن بعضنا ليستتر ببعض من العري وقارئ لنا يقرأ علينا فنحن نسمع إلى كتاب الله إذ وقف علينا رسول الله ﷺ وقعد فينا ليعد نفسه معهم فكف القارئ فقال ما كنتم تقولون فقلنا يا رسول الله كان قارئ لنا يقرأ علينا كتاب الله فقال رسول الله ﷺ بيده وحلق بها يومئ إليهم أن تحلقوا فاستدارت الحلقة فما رأيت رسول الله ﷺ عرف منهم أحدا غيري قال فقال أبشروا يا معشر الصعاليك تدخلون الجنة قبل الأغنياء بنصف يوم وذلك خمس مائة عام
Its isnad is hasan, on account of Ala bin Bashir. We have already mentioned that Dhahabi considered him unknown, and we cited his profile among the scholars in our commentary on hadith 11265. Sayyar is Ibn Hatim, and Jafar is Ibn Sulayman.The hadith with similar wording was narrated by Abu Dawud 323 number 3366 in the Book of Knowledge, the Stories, and Ibn Majah 2/1381 number 4123 in the Book of Asceticism, the Rank of the Poor, and Baghawi in the Tafsir 2/138 and 7/62 in the margin of Khazin, all of them from Abu Saeed.
