When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to stone Maez bin Malik, we took him out to al-Baqi. By Allah, we neither dug a pit for him nor tied him up. He simply stood there for us, and we pelted him with bones and pieces of pottery. He cried out in pain and ran off, until he came to a halt before us in the open ground of the Harrah. There we pelted him with large stones until he fell silent.

لما أمرنا رسول الله ﷺ أن نرجم ماعز بن مالك خرجنا به إلى البقيع فوالله ما حفرنا له ولا أوثقناه ولكنه قام لنا فرميناه بالعظام والخزف فاشتكى فخرج يشتد حتى انتصب لنا في عرض الحرة فرميناه بجلاميد الجندل حتى سكت
