I said to Abu Saeed Khudri, "Some men among us are the best of us in reciting the Quran, the most frequent in prayer, the most devoted in maintaining family ties, and the most diligent in fasting, yet they have come out against us with their swords."Abu Saeed replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'A people will appear who recite the Quran, but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will pass through the religion as an arrow passes through its target.'"

قلت لأبي سعيد الخدري إن منا رجالا هم أقرؤنا للقرآن وأكثرنا صلاة وأوصلنا للرحم وأكثرنا صوما خرجوا علينا بأسيافهم فقال أبو سعيد سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول يخرج قوم يقرءون القرآن لا يجاوز حناجرهم يمرقون من الدين كما يمرق السهم من الرمية
Its chain is sahih. Suwayd bin Najih was declared trustworthy by Ibn Main, and Ahmad said, "There is no harm in him," and Abu Hatim said, "A shaykh whose hadith is written down," and Ibn Saad said, "He was a neighbor of Amash."Yazid the Faqir is Yazid bin Suhayb, Abu Uthman al-Kufi, and he was only named "the Faqir" because of pain in the vertebrae of his back, and he is trustworthy. The hadith, with similar wording, is found in Muslim 2/478 no. 1066m, Abu Dawud 4/244 no. 4764, Nasai 7/119 no. 4101, and Ibn Majah 1/62 no. 175, and it has already been mentioned many times before.
