We used to be given mixed dates as our ration during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

كنا نرزق تمر الجمع على عهد رسول الله ﷺ
Its isnad is sahih. Yazid is Ibn Harun. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari 4/311, no. 2080, Fath [al-Bari], in the Book of Sales, chapter on selling mixed dates, and Muslim 3/1216, no. 1595, in the Book of Musaqah, chapter on selling food like for like, and Nasai 7/273, no. 4509, and Ibn Majah 2256.
