Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ came upon one of the Arab tribes, but the people of that tribe refused to host them. While they were in that state, the chief of the tribe was stung. His people asked, "Do you have any medicine or anyone who can recite a healing prayer?"The companions replied, "You refused to host us, so we will not do anything unless you pay us for it."So the tribe agreed to give them a flock of sheep. One of the companions began reciting the Mother of the Quran, gathering his saliva and spitting lightly, and the man recovered. When the tribe brought the sheep, the companions said, "We will not take them until we ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about this."They asked the Prophet ﷺ about it, and he laughed and said, "How did you know it was a healing prayer? Take the sheep, and set aside a share for me."

أن ناسا من أصحاب النبي ﷺ أتوا على حي من أحياء العرب فلم يقروهم فبينا هم كذلك إذ لدغ سيد أولئك فقالوا هل فيكم دواء أو راق فقالوا إنكم لم تقرونا ولا نفعل حتى تجعلوا لنا جعلا فجعلوا لهم قطيعا من شاء قال فجعل يقرأ أم القرآن ويجمع بزاقه ويتفل فبرأ الرجل فأتوهم بالشاء فقالوا لا نأخذها حتى نسأل عنها رسول الله ﷺ فسألوا النبي ﷺ عن ذلك فضحك وقال ما أدراك أنها رقية خذوها واضربوا لي فيها بسهم
