Zazan reported,

Ali bin Abu Talib drank while standing. The people looked at him and disapproved of this. Ali said, "What are you looking at? If I drink standing, I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drink standing, and if I drink sitting, I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drink sitting."

أن علي بن أبي طالب شرب قائما فنظر الناس فأنكروا ذلك عليه فقال علي رضي الله عنه ما تنظرون إن أشرب قائما فقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يشرب قائما وإن أشرب قاعدا فقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يشرب قاعدا
