The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set the period of wiping over the leather socks at three days and their nights for the traveler, and one day and one night for the resident.

جعل رسول الله ﷺ للمسافر ثلاثة أيام ولياليهن وللمقيم يوما وليلة
Its isnad is sahih. Sufyan is Thawri. Amr bin Qays is al-Mulai, with a damma on the meem and a light lam, and he is trustworthy and reliable, one of the trustworthy and distinguished people of knowledge. Hakam is Ibn Utayba. The hadith is abridged. 1119
