A man entered the mosque on Friday while the Prophet ﷺ was on the pulpit. The Prophet called him over and instructed him to pray two units of prayer.Then he came in on the second Friday while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on the pulpit, and he called him over and instructed him again.Then he came in on the third Friday, and the Prophet instructed him to pray two units. After that he said, "Give in charity," and the people did so, and he gave the man two garments from what had been donated.Then he said again, "Give in charity," and the man tossed away one of his two garments. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rebuked him and disapproved of what he had done.Then he said, "Look at this man. He entered the mosque in shabby condition, so I called you to him hoping that you would give to him, that you would give him charity and clothe him, but you did not do so. Then I said, 'Give in charity,' and you gave, and I gave him two garments from what you donated. Then I said, 'Give in charity,' and he threw off one of his two garments. Take your garment back!" And he rebuked him.

دخل رجل المسجد يوم الجمعة والنبي ﷺ على المنبر فدعاه فأمره أن يصلي ركعتين ثم دخل الجمعة الثانية ورسول الله ﷺ على المنبر فدعاه فأمره ثم دخل الجمعة الثالثة فأمره أن يصلي ركعتين ثم قال تصدقوا ففعلوا فأعطاه ثوبين مما تصدقوا ثم قال تصدقوا فألقى أحد ثوبيه فانتهره رسول الله ﷺ وكره ما صنع ثم قال انظروا إلى هذا فإنه دخل المسجد في هيئة بذة فدعوته فرجوت أن تعطوا له فتصدقوا عليه وتكسوه فلم تفعلوا فقلت تصدقوا فتصدقوا فأعطيته ثوبين مما تصدقوا ثم قلت تصدقوا فألقى أحد ثوبيه خذ ثوبك وانتهره
