The Prophet ﷺ said, "When three people are together, one of them should lead them in prayer, and the most deserving of leading is the one who recites the Quran best."
حدثنا يحيى حدثنا هشام وشعبة قالا حدثنا قتادة عن أبي نضرة
عن النبي ﷺ إذا كانوا ثلاثة فليؤمهم أحدهم وأحقهم بالإمامة أقرؤهم
Its isnad is sahih. All of them were mentioned earlier and are trustworthy. The hadith is found in Muslim 1/464 no. 289, in the Book of Mosques, on who is most entitled to lead the prayer, and in Nasai 2/77 no. 782, and Ibn Khuzayma 3/4 no. 1508.
