The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us out on a military expedition of thirty riders. We stopped at the camp of an Arab tribe and asked them to host us as guests, but they refused. Then their chief was stung by a scorpion, so they came to us and asked, "Is there anyone among you who can recite a healing incantation for a scorpion sting?"I said, "Yes, I can, but I will not do it until you give us something."They said, "We will give you thirty sheep."So I recited Surah al-Hamd over him seven times, and he recovered. But when we took possession of the sheep, we felt some hesitation about them, so we held back until we came to the Prophet ﷺ and told him about it.He said, "How did you know it was a valid incantation? Divide them up, and set aside a share for me along with yours."

بعثنا رسول الله ﷺ في سرية ثلاثين راكبا قال فنزلنا بقوم من العرب قال فسألناهم أن يضيفونا فأبوا قال فلدغ سيدهم قال فأتونا فقالوا فيكم أحد يرقي من العقرب قال فقلت نعم أنا ولكن لا أفعل حتى تعطونا شيئا قالوا فإنا نعطيكم ثلاثين شاة قال فقرأت عليها الحمد لله سبع مرات قال فبرأ قال فلما قبضنا الغنم قال عرض في أنفسنا منها قال فكففنا حتى أتينا النبي ﷺ قال فذكرنا ذلك له قال فقال أما علمت أنها رقية اقسموها واضربوا لي معكم بسهم
