The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to like palm-branch stalks and would hold one in his hand. He entered the mosque and saw some phlegm on the qiblah wall, so he scraped it off with the stalk until it was clean.
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد حدثنا ابن عجلان حدثني عياض بن عبد الله
كان رسول الله ﷺ يحب العراجين يمسكها في يده فدخل المسجد فرأى نخامة في قبلة المسجد فحتها به حتى أنقاها
Its isnad is sahih. Iyad bin Abdullah bin Saad bin Abu Sarh is a trustworthy member of the Tabiin, whose hadith is included in the collections of the group. Ibn Ajlan is Muhammad, and he is trustworthy. The hadith, with similar wording, is found in Muslim 4/2304 no. 3008, and Abu Dawud 2/130 no. 480.
