He was in a room and said to me, "My son, when you give the call to prayer, raise your voice in the adhan, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Nothing hears it, neither jinn, nor human, nor stone, but it will bear witness for him.'"On another occasion he said, "My son, when you are out in the open country, raise your voice in the adhan, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'No jinn, no human, no stone, nor anything else hears it without bearing witness for him.'"Ubayy said, Sufyan was mistaken regarding his name, and the correct form is Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Sasaa.
Its isnad is sahih. May Allah have mercy on Imam Ahmad, for he correctly identified the name of the narrator and his father, both of whom are trustworthy. The hadith is found in Bukhari 2/87, no. 609, in the chapter on the adhan, raising the voice in the call, and in Abu Dawud 1/142, no. 515, from Abu Hurairah, and in Ibn Majah 1/239, no. 723, with similar wording.
