The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade muzabanah and muhaqalah. Muzabanah is the sale of fruit still on the palm trees in exchange for a measured amount of dried dates, while muhaqalah is the leasing of land.
حدثنا عبد الرحمن هو ابن مهدي حدثنا مالك عن داود بن الحصين عن أبي سفيان
أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن المزابنة والمحاقلة والمزابنة اشتراء الثمرة في رءوس النخل بالتمر كيلا والمحاقلة كري الأرض
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Dawud bin Husayn Umawi, their freedman, Abu Sulayman Madani, is trustworthy, though he was accused of holding Kharijite views, and his hadith is found in the collections of the Group. Abu Sufyan is Muhammad bin Zayd Alhani, and this hadith has already appeared in 2/391–419, 484.
